I have full intentions of getting the rest of our vacation photo's posted by the end of this week. Tonight I'm going to work on the Disney portion.
Monday morning, we left Las Vegas and drove to California. It took us about 4-5 hours to get to Disneyland. Stayed at a great hotel next to the main gate called the Candy Cane Inn. Sounds like a cheesy place because of the name. But actually, it's a lovely hotel. We stayed there last year as well and liked it so well we went back this year. They have a free shuttle to get you to Disney. But it was almost faster to walk over so most times that's what we did.
We had FANTASTIC weather while we were there. It was sunny, warm and beautiful. Fortunately we were there a week before the mad rush of March Break began so the crowds were very bearable. We forgot to bring along Max's little Mickey ears from last year so we got another pair. Because you can't spend 4 days at Disney and not wear any Mickey ears. That would just be wrong! This time around, "pirate ears" were the headgear of choice for the Maxter and he also had his name embroidered on the back. I know I'm biased, but I gotta say...he looked so dang cute!
One of Max's favouite things to do is meet the Disney characters. So I thought I would post some (from our large collection of pictures!) of him posing with his favourites. There was only one character he refused to meet. And that was Mr. Incredible. He absolutely would not do it. Guess we'll save that photo op for next time.
I want to explain about the first few photo's of Max with the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland characters). The first morning we were there, Max was feeling a bit out of sorts. (This was 15 minutes after we arrived that morning.) He had taken off his ears and was off pouting by himself. Wouldn't you know, the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts just happened to be in the area. Max had about 2 minutes of uninterrupted time with them. They were trying to cheer him up and make him feel better. The Mad Hatter even brought out a silver teapot and pretended to have tea with him. They never did get him to smile or laugh while they were chatting with him. But after they left, the grumblies magically disappeared and Max was back to his happy little self. Yeah!
We ate at Goofy's Kitchen one evening which is what is referred to as Character Dining. You are guaranteed lots of interaction with various Disney Characters throughout your meal. At one point, there was a huge commotion in the food buffet area. Chef Goofy had dropped a big container of plastic plates and cutlery on the floor. All the kids jumped up and grabbed the dropped items and then used them to make music and sing along with Goofy. While we were eating we had different visitors stop by our table - Goofy, Chip & Dale, Jasmine (Aladdin), Belle (Beauty & the Beast), Minnie and Pluto. Fun times!
As for the very last photo - do you know what character is with Max? He's Goofy's son. And his name is.....Max! Just had to get a photo of Max and Max! :-)
