Sunday afternoon we ventured down to the Tulip Festival in Skagit Valley, Washington. Last year we went down too late and we only saw a few fields of dying daffodils. Two years ago we went down for the first time and saw beautiful fields of red and yellow tulips - it was towards the end of the season and the fields were very dry and dusty. This year we were a couple of weeks earlier so we saw tons of different colours of tulips. But it was wet and muddy. You definately had to watch your step!
The tulip fields are spread out over a 15 mile radius. You just drive around the countryside until you find a colourful field that you want to stop at. Some fields are free. Other's will charge a $5.00 parking fee, or something like that. You are only supposed to walk on the marked pathways. Walking between the rows is not allowed. Some fields even have workers standing around with the specific job of shouting at people to get out of the tulips. LOL! And yeah, as you can see from the photo's, we were bad and snuck in a few rows for pics. (Never got yelled at though!)We made sure we were super careful and didn't damage any of the plants.
The three of us have very specific and individual tastes when it comes to our favourite field of tulips. Keith loved the orange (almost fluroescent) tulips. Max loved the yellow tulips. The yellower the better for him. (His favourite colour is yellow by the way) And my favourite were the pink tulips.
Aren't the fields stunning? If you live in the area and have a chance to get down there over the next week or two we highly recommend it. (Don't forget boots if you have them!) Here's a link: Skagit Valley Tulip Festival
And just in case you are wondering on the status of our snowfall over the weekend - I'm happy to report that it was pretty much all melted by noon on Saturday. Thankfully. Still doesn't take away the initial shock we felt after looking out our windows on Saturday morning!

Amazing photos Patti - what a gorgeous spot. Great weekend activity.
So do you carry a tripod with you or do you just luck out and find someone with and "eye" for all your great famil shots?
I'm curious about your regular settings, too.
