How was everyone's weekend?
It was pretty good around here.
Saturday the weather held out - it was warm and sunny. Max and I were in the backyard ALL DAY long. I spent the whole time raking the lawn, cleaning out flowerbeds and scrubbing down all the play equipment, toys and lawn furniture. Max spent most of the time playing with the next door neighbour girls. They had a blast together. They started out "helping" me scrub the toys. By the afternoon, all three of them were in their swim suits, running through the sprinkler, making a waterslide on the climber, having watergun fights and jumping into the little swim pool. Yup - water games already. Had a glimpse of our backyardiggan summer last year! It actually worked out great because Max was entertained the whole entire time and it freed up my time to get yardwork done. It helped out Kelly too because her girls were busy playing with Max so she could some unexpected stuff done around her house. Even better I was able to get rid of some playground stuff that Max has outgrown or has no interest in - like our Little Tikes basketball net, etc. Her dad is involved with a charity that is having a garage sale in the next few weeks. They need donations - and I want to get rid of stuff. Perfect combination and timing!!
Sunday we woke up to RAIN RAIN RAIN and cool temps. Max and I went to church in the morning and then went out for lunch at Kelsey's. We hung out at home all afternoon and I think Max raced and played with his cars for about 4 solid hours. He loves his cars. We picked up Keith at the airport at 8:30 at night - good to have him home again. Brief as it may be. He went to work this morning and headed straight for the airport afterwards and is in Kelowna for the next few days. He gets back here late on Wednesday night. We sure haven't seen much of him in in the last week or so. Busy times. He did surprise us today around dinnertime and came home to have lunch with us. He's never done that before. It was kinda fun! When he was leaving, he told Max that he would be gone again for a few days. And Max said to him "When you're gone dad, I'm the man of the house." How cute is that?!
Today after music class, we popped over to Whole Foods to pick up some fruits and veggies and things we needed. They have a neat little courtyard area outside the store with a water & stepping stone area. Max loves to run through it. Amazingly enough, he's never fallen in yet. Not that it's deep or anything. It would be interesting to see what he'd say if he did have a mishap!
Tonight about 1/2 hour before bedtime, Max came to me all excited and wanted to show me his "soccer game". He had replaced all the little soccer players with cars. Can you believe it? And yes, we had a full fledged car soccer game before he went to bed. My little boy...He loves sports. He loves cars. What better way than to combine the two?!
