Camping at North Okanagan Provincial Campground

This weekend we went camping at North Okanagan Provincial Campground located between Summerland and Peachland. It's a nice and private campground built on the side of a mountain. The campsites are located on terraces all the way down the mountain. And at the bottom is beautiful clean Okanagan Lake.

Keith returned from Ontario late Friday afternoon. He had a long day of flying - starting off in Ottawa to Toronto to Edmonton to (finally!) Kelowna. We picked him up at 5:30 and raced back home, stopping to pick up a pizza for dinner. We quickly ate and loaded up the tent trailer and truck (I had gotten everything all together ahead of time) and hit the road. It was only about a 45 minute drive to the campground.

Saturday morning we drove back for Max's soccer game at 9:00am and then it was back to the campground. We had a nice and relaxing weekend. Keith and I both got our noses stuck deep in books and did alot of reading this time around. The rest of the time was spent talking and biking and down at the beach. Some thunderstorms were brewing in the afternoon. We hung out at the beach until it started to rain. The little shower didn't last long and barely made the dust settle. It was refreshing!

Halfway through Saturday Max was feeling rather sad that he hadn't made any friends. The way this campground was setup, made it more difficult to find little friends - more so than the last one we were at. I had noticed a little girl at the campsite next door so I encouraged him to go over there and ask her if she wanted to play. He grabbed some outdoor toys and marched right over and said "Hi. My name is Max. Would you like to play with me?" And the little girl asked her mom (who said yes) and the rest of the weekend they spent playing together. Her name was Ariana and they had quite a bit of fun together....running, playing with Max's outdoor toys and their favourite game was a travel version of "Guess Who" that they played on the picnic table. Fun times! :-)

A very quiet and low key camping weekend but it was just what my hubby needed after a stressful busy week away...seemed to help cure him of jet lag easily. And my mouth is coming along nicely. Still some aches and pains but I'm no longer taking anything (Tylenol, etc.) so it's all very manageable and sometimes even forgettable for a few minutes anyway! :-)
