Christmas at the Gerber house tends to be a little chaotic to say the least. But fun. Always lots of fun! Just imagine, two families from out of town (The three of us from BC and my brother Jon, his wife Sheila and two little boys from the Sudbury area) descend upon the Gerber house and live there for about a week with everyone else. There is one bathroom (yes! only 1 for everyone!) and it's an interesting experience to say the least. Christmas morning was very fun with Max and his cousin Alex adding lots of excitement to the mix. My mom had her dinner at noon on Christmas day. Following dinner is the annual Christmas Day hockey game on the driveway. It gets pretty intense and heated for everyone participating. This year it was my dad who got the short end of the stick and walked away with a black eye. Poor guy!
Alex and Max joined the hockey game, got a snowmobile ride or two and then spent the rest of the day "harvesting stars" in the upstairs bedrooms. You know those glow-in-the-dark stars that you can stick on your ceilings, etc? Well over the years they have been stuck on Vanessa's ceiling and also in Jesse's bedroom. Max and Alex discovered them and spent HOURS climbing up on the bunkbed, picking them off one spot of the ceiling (harvesting!) and placing them on another. And sneaking them from Vanessa's room and putting them on the ceiling in Jesse's room. Silly, huh? But it kept them entertained for HOURS. Hours and hours. Whatever works!
