**Wowie Maui** Here we go...

First of all, Happy Friday all!

This week just flew by. I managed to wash and dry my way through mounds of laundry. Went plant shopping at a few garden centres. Started working on flowerbeds and planters for the deck. Went to soccer and baseball in the evenings. Stocked up on groceries and did some baking. Our cupboards were bare. Went to the fun fair at Max's school on Thursday afternoon. Had BC friends Larry & Sabrina surprise us with a lovely visit on Thursday night. Thoroughly enjoyed a coffee date with my dear friend Carol this morning. Still struggling with jetlag though - haven't kicked it yet.

When I look back over the week, it wasn't super busy, stressful or crammed with a million-and-one things to do. But I think I was (still am?!) in easy-going vacation mode and things just took me a bit longer to accomplish then they normally do. Probably explains a bit why I completely forgot that I was supposed to help with hot lunch at the school on Monday. Didn't remember that one until late Monday night. Oops! Or how I slept in on Thursday morning and the loud sound of the garbage truck didn't even wake me up. And therefore, yes, both the garbage and recycling didn't make it out on the curb this week. We'll chalk that one up to jetlag. Ah well. It's alllllllll good.

I've slowly started working on our vacation photos. Here are a few to start off with.

Have a great weekend and hope the sun shines wherever you are and on whatever you are doing!

We flew out of Pearson on Monday afternoon (May 17). Our flight wasn't direct so we had to switch planes in Vancouver. We weren't sure if we would be clearing customs in Toronto or Vancouver so we arrived in plenty of time at Pearson. Once there we found out we'd be doing customs in Vancouver (which we had kinda suspected all along).  As a result, we had plenty of time to wait before boarding. Keith and Max broke out the travel battleship game to pass the time while I people watched. Very inconspicuously of course. ;-)  Anyone else love doing that?

Waiting to board our flight in Vancouver...

By the time we finally landed in Maui, it was 10:00pm on Monday night (or 4:00am Tuesday morning in Ontario). We were wide awake and pretty chipper as you can see! :-)

We stayed at the Royal Lahaina Resort (Kaanapali Beach area).  This is the same place we stayed at on our honeymoon 10 years ago. This time we upgraded our room though and stayed in a different building. Not because we thought we needed to be fancier or anything like that. It was strictly because we wanted a fridge in our room.  About a year ago, they completely renovated all the rooms in the tower and thus the fridges. The other building we stayed in earlier had not been renovated and, therefore no fridges. Gotta have a fridge.

We loved the decor and feel of our room. No fussyness. Very calming and relaxing. Had a tropical island vibe going on... which is what you'd expect when you go somewhere tropical. :-)

When we checked in, they very graciously upgraded us from a garden view room to a partial ocean view. We weren't complaining. :-)

We hit Safeway a few times and stocked up on breakfast and lunch foods. (Explains why we wanted a fridge) We ate breakfast every morning out on our little balcony...watching the birdies fly around, listening to the roar of the ocean and drinking in the beautiful views...

Part of Max's school homework while we were gone was to keep a daily journal of everything he did in Maui. This was a familiar scene each evening as he diligently wrote out the days activities...

About half-way through our stay, we noticed a little wet patch on the carpet beside the shower. It didn't go away and got bigger the next day. We mentioned it to the hotel staff. (Probably a leaking shower) They then offered to move us to another room with a better view. We're in! This time were were on the other side of the building and had a beautiful ocean view from our room...

And just for memories sake, we had Max snap a picture of us in front of the building we had stayed in on our honeymoon. Awww!
