Saturday afternoon we went to Laity Pumpkin Patch. We were there a couple of years ago with the Maxter. He just loves it - so many things for the kiddo's to do. We think there must be a grandpa or two there who enjoys woodworking - cutting out wooden shapes and painting them to make displays and activities. They have so much stuff. It took a bit of convincing when it was time for us to leave at the end of the day. Just check out his smile when he was "milking the wooden cow". Ecstatic! They also have tractor & wagon rides, a corn maze, petting zoo, and of course, a walk out to the pumpkin patch to pick your pumpkins. Which is a bit overwhelming to say the least. We did manage to find some suitable (as deemed by the Maxter) pumpkins and gourds to take home with us.
Afterwards we drove back to the North Shore and decided to go to Colosseum Pizza - one of our favourite pizza places. It's not exactly your typical pizza joint - a bit more upscale (as you can see by the second last photo I included) and they have many unique pizza creations to tempt you. Delicious to say the least!!
This is when our evening started to get a bit more exciting. After leaving Colosseum, we drove 4 blocks where Keith pulled over and parked because he saw a CIBC and wanted to do some banking. It took him all of 5 minutes. Then he was back and started up the Trailblazer. Nothing. NOTHING. It was completely and utterly dead. The battery had decided to give up the ghost at 6:05pm on the Saturday evening of a long weekend. Great timing or what? To make a long story short, we called BCAA and signed up for a membership on the spot. They sent over a truck to give us a boost. Fortunately, the driver said that they also sell/install batteries and have a truck they can send out to do that. Our options at that point were pretty limited so that's what we did. We arranged to have the battery guy meet us over at the Chevy dealership (just in case it wasn't the battery after all - we didn't want to have to call them for another tow to the dealership) and by 8:45pm that evening we were back on the road with a fully operational Trailblazer and we headed home to the condo. We were very thankful that it ended up being a relatively smooth and painless fix to our vehicle. And personally, I was especially thankful it hadn't happened a day or two earlier when Keith was out of town and I was supposed to be driving over to Vancouver. That kind of stress I can do without.
