Easter - Part 1

Did everyone have a beautiful and lovely Easter weekend? Hope so! We were busy with family and friends and the great outdoors the entire time. I took such a big bunch of pictures. Here's a few snippets...

Colouring eggs. An annual must-do tradition. Thursday evening my sister LeeAnne came over for dinner. Afterwards we all coloured eggs together.  Well actually, the other three coloured eggs. I took the pictures. :-)

What is it with those dye kits? Every year they're different. We've gotten smart. We buy two packages exactly the same and use double strength dye in the cups. But even then some of the colours just did not perform. Max hit the mother lode. He was in charge of the blue and green colours. The dye was working like crazy. In comparison, Keith had yellow and orange and it was not good. We ended up trying to boost it with food colouring which helped but not immensely. My mom has a theory. If you dye the eggs while they are still hot from being boiled, it takes to them much better. Good to know.

Had to include this outdoor group shot. Shorts and T-shirts. Outdoors. Virtually unheard of on the Easter long weekend in Ontario. We won't complain thankyou very much!

LeeAnne and I finished off the night with a late grocery run. Thought we were being smart. Beating the big rush on Saturday. Apparently half the city had the same idea because it was an absolute zoo at Zehrs.  To top it off, we were two very giddy girls. Must have had a touch of spring fever. Fits and giggles the entire time.

Good Friday we went to LeeAnne's for lunch after church. She had requested Keith's assistance in attaching curtain rods in her living room, hanging curtains and various other things to some walls in her house.  The weather was sooooo gorgeous. We wasted no time hauling out her bbq and a few pieces of patio furniture from her storage shed. Relaxing, exploring, discovering the outdoors and enjoying a delicious bbq lunch... does it really get better then that? I think not. :-)

Afterward lunch, we got to work. LeeAnne has been very very very busy the past couple of months with painting the entire lower level of her house. It might look familiar to you. It was the house that Keith, Max and I lived in before we moved to the wild wild west. She ended up buying it from us a couple of years ago and it suits her needs to a "t"! She didn't make any changes to it when she moved in. But now that she's lived in it for a while and has figured out her decor scheme, she's starting to update it. I have to say she's doing a tremendous job. Way to go Legs!! :-) Grey colour scheme. Very clean and modern. It's already looking fab, and she's not close to finished. It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do. And new curtains. And decor for the walls. And furniture.

The later part of the afternoon we spent out at my parents farm. Keith was in quad heaven. He brought his quad along and he was able to rip around to his hearts content. Definitely not the same as what he was used to in Kelowna, but you have to take what you can get.

Max got more quality egg colouring time in. This time assisting Grandma...

I would say that the hi-lite of the day for Max was catching a chicken. We apologized to my poor dad afterwards and warned him that egg production might be slightly down for the next few days. Chicken catching....not quite as easy as you think.

Yes, I realize I have a slight fixation with taking pictures of chickens this last while. ;-)

LeeAnne was hard at work for part of the afternoon. She got all the bikes out of storage and made sure there was air in the tires and that they were ready to go. No excuses...there's a bike there for everyone to get excercise on the farm.

After a busy fresh-air fun-filled afternoon, whoever happened to be still hanging around, happened to have a nice dinner at my mom and dad's.

Wyatt was ALL about the icecream. He just has to spy a container that resembles icecream and look out. His arms start waving, legs kick and cute little sounds chirp out of his mouth. Adorable!

Little bit of horsing around...a good way to finish off the day!
