Vintage Goodness

So while I was home in Ontario...we were digging through an old closet and found some vintage bridesmaid dresses, a baptism dress and...my parents wedding clothes. Ok, so to be quite honest - it wasn't a big discovery or anything. Tuesday, July 22 was my parents 36th wedding anniversary and this year our visit home coincided with this special day! I decided it was high time to dig out their wedding clothes and get some pictures of them wearing them. Believe me, they were less enthusiastic about the idea - especially my dad. But when Patti makes up her mind... well - they did it and did we ever have some good laughs. First of all, with my dad's suit we discovered the moths had eaten a hole in the pants. My mom's dress we discovered had a fashionable twist - it now sports an open back when she wears it! Oh my goodness - did we ever have some good laughs. Max wanted to be in a picture with them holding flowers (because that's what you hold at a wedding) so then we had Vanessa wear my mom's "going away" dress - so that's what that blue dress is in the group shot with my parents, Heather, Vanessa and Max (holding the flowers).

So that got the ball rolling. A few nights later we (I mean, me!) decided to dig out the other vintage dresses and get some pics of my sisters. Well it was quite the ordeal. Vanessa is wearing my mom's white baptism dress. Heather is wearing a green bridesmaid dress from Aunt Judy's wedding and LeeAnne is wearing a blue bridesmaid dress from Aunt Gloria's wedding. We also managed to get Heather and Vanessa to try on my mom's wedding dress. Good times. And we even used my mom's old bike as a prop in the one picture. We were hoping she'd have her old glasses - think cats eye style that we could use. But apparently they were trundled off to the thrift store long ago.

I apologize for how dark the photo's are. This was rather spur of the moment when we took the photo's and the evening light was disappearing quite fast. Enjoy!

My Heather looks impressed with your idea. Only you could convince your family to do this Patti.

Vernon and Linda read this blog entry, and they had some good laughs.
