Happy BC Day!

Not much of a holiday weekend around here for us! Friday morning we headed over to Kelowna to pick up our keys to our new home. We spent Friday and Saturday cleaning for the most part, meeting our new neighbours, and figuring out all the electronics and appliances, etc.

So how did we keep Max entertained while we were trying to get everything done? One word. GEOTRAX! Max has been interested in GeoTrax for quite a while after he played with it at a little friends house. I found a good deal on Craigslist and bought it - only he didn't know about it. After we got to the house on Friday we asked Max to help us unpack some boxes. He started opening them up and WOW! His face just lit up and he kept saying "This is just like a dream! This is a dream come true!" And it kept him busy and entertained for the two days we were there. It has trains that are controlled with remote controls which is a huge part of the attraction for him. So while he played trains, I washed down cupboards and trim and Keith shampooed carpets. I have to say that the previous owners left the house in amazing condition. They removed all the nails from the walls and filled in all the holes. And the house was left very clean. We were cleaning....well, because you want to clean it yourself when you move in, right? Were there any "surprises"? Not really. The only thing we were surprised about was the actual colour of paint on the walls. We thought the walls were all cream. They aren't. Depending on the time of day - the main floor is pink and upstairs the walls are peach. Bizarre! All depends on the time of day though with natural light. Can you believe it? What are the chances that we would buy yet another house with pink walls? (For those that don't know, our house in Wellesley had a very pink (practically brand new) kitchen!)Oh well... we are planning to paint this fall anyway and it's very livable since half the time you can't tell.

At the end of our street is an undeveloped area that has little trails and is great for exploring. The last photo's were taken there on Sunday morning. Max loved biking around. As you can tell - it's the edge of the burnt out area from the forest fires about 5 years ago. There's even an old swimming pool and outdoor kitchen - all that remains from a house that burnt down. Also nearby is a pond with fish and turtles and ducks. I think it will be a popular place for Max to go biking and catching frogs!

Today we are back in North Vancouver - Keith is doing yard work and I'm cleaning the house. Tomorrow we are expecting our friends Tim & Anna - they'll be staying with us for a few days and we are looking forward to catching up with them.

Hope you're enjoying the holiday weekend and having more of a holiday than what we are this time around! :-)
