hi ho the derry-o....a camping we shall go!
This weekend we headed out for our first camping trip of the season. We stayed in Whistler with all of it's beautiful scenery and "blazing" hot weather! My oh my was it hot! Poor Mr. M was feeling tough and "under the weather". He was perfectly fine before we left. He fell asleep on the drive up the Sea to Sky and when he woke up he was sneezing to beat the band and his nose was running a mile a minute. Instant headcold. Very odd. He did really well considering and we spent the weekend doing a little minigolfing, biking, hiking and playing on the playground. Unfortunately they already have a fire ban on so there were no campfires to be had in the evenings. Instead of popping corn over the campfire we made it on our outdoor campstove -mmmmmm! There's just something about camping and making yummy popcorn at night - drenched in butter. Very low-fat to be sure. LOL!
We arrived back home late on Sunday afternoon to the not-so-lovely surprise of ants beginning their attack and march on our house. They arrived a few weeks earlier then last year I think. Who knew that ants could be so pesky and such a pain. Grrrr! Last year was the first year we experienced them. We tried all sorts of ant traps and nature-friendly ways to get rid of them before just giving into using ant-pesticide-scary-stuff (which I wasn't keen on) and finally getting rid of them once and for all. Last night we just went straight for that scary bottle and used it around the door frames where they like to come in and so far today we haven't seen any in the house. You know it's summer when.....the ants come marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah....the ants come marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah....
Bring on summer... (except for the ants of course) with all the fun and wonderful things that go with it - warm sunny breezes, outdoor dining on the patio, beautiful flowering plants, camping excursions, icecream trucks cruising our neighbourhood, chalk drawing on the driveway and playing games out in the yard...it's allllllll good!
